Chief Ashley "Lee" Jeffcoat Jr.

I would like to welcome you to the Holly Springs community which has one of the finest fire protection agencies in the nation. I have lived in Holly Springs all my life and have attended Holly Springs Baptist Church since birth. I have a lovely wife who supports me and this organization greatly. I also have 2 young daughters and still reside in the Holly Springs Community where I was raised.

I began my career at the Holly Springs Fire Station back in 1985 after gaining interest from friends and family and watching the once then, small department fight desperately to save homes on a large wildfire on top of Little Mountain. It was then I realized that I can serve and make a difference in the community. I enrolled as a Junior Firefighter at the age of 13 and at the age of 18 was promoted to firefighter under the leadership of Chief Defoy Downey, whom was one of the finest men I’ve ever known. I have served in many positions over the past 20 years and have trained in almost all aspects of firefighting and fire department managing.

I received the honor from my fellow firefighters in 2000 of serving as Assistant Chief to my good friend Chief Larry Chapman. I have worked on making many improvements to the department since this time but the one I am most proud of is the improvements in moral that the firefighters and Commissioners have shown over the past four years.

I served as Acting Chief after the retirement of Chief Chapman and was appointed Fire Chief in July of 2004. I have learned in this time that there is more to being Chief than wearing the white helmet. There is a complex equitation of different factors that create and maintain a healthy progressive fire department and each one is just as important as the other. The days of running a fire department like a local social club is long gone and we must continuously strive to better ourselves and the community we protect.

As with any job I do, I will do to the absolute best of my ability and then add 100%. These are values I learned from working with past leaders here at Holly Springs.

Thank you,
Lee Jeffcoat
