2006 Pierce Contender

  • The Department has just taken delivery of this new Engine/Tanker Combo Company. This apparatus was purchased after receiving a 2005 Department of Homeland Security grant that pays 95% of the cost. This apparatus is to replace an old 1982 model tanker. This unit has all of the latest NFPA safety systems and is equipped to respond during ice and snow with its automatic on-spot snow chain system. It also has the capability, equipment, and ISO credit of an Engine company, but with the full function of a tanker.

  • To date the Holly Springs Fire District has received over $380,000.00 in Federal, State, County, and Private Industry grants to pay for all the upgrades in order to handle the booming growth of the district.

  • The Fire department has just submitted the paperwork to advance to the next ISO rating of a class 3. If this rating is achieved, the Holly Springs Fire Department will be amongst the top 3% of the best rated fire districts in the nation. This will potentially mean a significant insurance savings for both commercial and residential property.

  • The Station is now complete and fully operational. The Social Hall is currently is use and has been used by over a dozen different groups and Private Parties. If you or your group would like to use the social hall for your event, Please contact the station for information or reserving it.


    Open House has been scheduled for July 4th from 10am to 2pm. Several events will be taking place, including the station's formal ribbon cutting and dedication. Fireworks will resume this year on the Fourth of July, the show will begin at 9:00pm or at dark.


    Fire Prevention Week 2004 - Members of department spent 4 days with Children from K-6th Grade at the Holly Springs-Motlow School teaching them about the dangers of fire and safety procedures. See pictures of this event in the Photo Gallery.


    Congratulations to Chad Pinker, "2004 Junior Firefighter of the Year." Chad has been involved in the department for several years but officially joined in early 2004. Chad is also a third generation firefighter for Holly Springs. Beginning with his Grandfather Chief Edward "Defoy" Downey who served as Chief for almost 20 years, and his father Steve Pinker who has served as a firefighter for Holly Springs since 1981.

    Congratulations to Mitchell Lawson. "2004 Rookie of the Year." Mitchell began his career with Gowensville Fire Department and went to work as a paid firefighter of Holly Springs in March of 2004. Mitchell then joined as a volunteer in August 2004. Mitchell is credited saving his fellow fighters and community from a potential disaster after the someone sabotaged every piece of equipment in the department back in April 2004. Mitchell simply doing his job discovered the disaster and assisted bringing the fleet back in service.

    Congratulations to Jeff Duncan, "2004 Firefighter of the Year." Jeff has been with the department for 2 years and also serves on the fire brigade at the Greer Mitsubishi plant. Jeff who works 12 hour shifts, plus having 3 kids, still finds time to volunteer for his community. We appreciate the wonderful job that he has done.

    This years banquet honored Gowensville Fire Department of 16 years of Automatic Aid and Advanced Concrete of Lyman for there generous contribution to the community and the fire department. Both organizations were given special plaques to show our thanks.


    Department Promotion
    Congratulations to Mr. Tony Patton for his promotion to the position of Lieutenant. Tony has been with the department since 1995 and is a Paramedic with Spartanburg EMS and will take the responsibility of handling all Medical & Rescue aspects of the Fire Department including equipment, Training, and Upcoming AED First Response procedures.


    On June 23rd, the Holly Springs Fire Department demostrated fire prevention practices to the Little Mountain Baptist Church bible school program. Approximently 70 kids and adults participated in the program using the Spartanburg County Fire Chief's Association smoke house. See pictures of this event in the Photo Gallery.


    HSVFD is pleased to announce it now has a AED with Infant/Child defibrillation capabilities. This is the first in the county and we are proud to have one.
